Taylor Swift Releases 4 New Songs to Celebrate the Start

Mar 24, 2023

Taylor Swift is giving her fans a present to mark the start of The Eras Tour. At midnight on March 17, Swift released four unreleased tracks. The first two are “Eyes Open (Taylor’s Version)” and “Safe & Sound (Taylor’s Version),” the latter of which features Joy Williams and John Paul White. Swift wrote and recorded those songs for the soundtrack for 2012 blockbuster “The Hunger Games.” Williams and White cowrote “Safe & Sound” with her; at the time, they were the band The Civil Wars, but they officially broke up in 2014.

The third song in Swift’s release is “If This Was a Movie (Taylor’s Version),” which was originally a deluxe track from 2010’s “Speak Now.” It is one in a myriad of clues that Swift plans on releasing “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)” soon. The fourth track is “All of the Girls You Loved Before,” an extra, unreleased track from her 2019 album “Lover.” It leaked online earlier this year and quickly became a favorite with fans.

Tonight, Swift begins her tour, playing the first of two nights in Glendale, AZ. She’ll play 52 dates total throughout the US, ending in Los Angeles. Fans had speculated that she would release some of the four remaining “Taylor’s Version” albums — self-titled, “Speak Now,” “1989,” and “Reputation” — before the tour began, but it seems they’re just getting a teaser for now.

Listen to the four new Swift songs ahead.
