Taylor Swift accepted the award for best pop — as well as a few friendship bracelets — at the 2023 MTV VMAs from none other than the newly reunited *NSYNC, and she seemed just as excited as any other fan of the iconic band. “I had your dolls,” she told the band at the Sept. 12 event. She even went on to speculate about whether another reunion or new project might be coming. “They’re going to do something, and I need to know what it is,” she said, going on to call the band “pop personified.” “To receive this from their golden pop hands is really too much,” she continued.

Swift is the most nominated person of the night with a total of eight nominations, including seven for her “Midnights” track “Anti-Hero” and one for artist of the year. Shortly after coming to the stage to accept the award for best pop, she returned to accept the award for song of the year, which also went to “Anti-Hero.” By the end of the night, she also accepted the awards for video of the year and best direction.

To call it a busy year for Swift would be an understatement. In March, she embarked on her record-breaking Eras Tour, wrapping up the first leg in August. In July, mid-tour, she released “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version).” And this October, she’s set to release not only “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” but also the Eras Tour concert film, which is set to break some box-office records of its own. Her Eras Tour picks up again this November in Argentina, and she’ll return to the US in the fall of 2024.

It was at the 2022 VMAs that Swift first announced “Midnights,” so fans have been wondering if she might have some major news at this year’s VMAs, too. But Swift already has so many projects coming down the pipeline, from “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” to her Eras Tour movie, so it seems like Swifties may have to content themselves with just watching Swift accept awards from all their nostalgic favorites over the course of the night.
